Train today at CTC for a career in Drafting. Each program is taught in a classroom laboratory with individual work stations. Classroom instruction is delivered through lecture, individualized instruction, team building exercises, simulated work assignments, and "live" work projects.

All equipment and software are current with the needs of the industry. Students learn basic board drafting along with Computer Assisted Drafting and Design (CADD). Field experiences to local construction sites are included in instruction.

Upon completion, job placement assistance is available to help start you in this growing career field. Course completion allows articulation to any community college in Florida equal to 12 credit hours (held in escrow).

Course Descriptions

 

Architectural Drafting  
Students in this class have individualized computer stations using the most current Autocad software. They advance through Blueprint Reader, Drafting Assistant, Drafting Detailer, CADD Drafter, and Architectural Drafter. The work in this class will include updating existing drawings, completing sets of plans from sketches prepared by the Architect/Builder, and creating your own drawings.


Mechanical Drafting

Students in this class have individualized computer stations using the most current Autocad software. They advance through Blueprint Reader, Drafting Assistant, Drafting Detailer, CAD Technician, and Mechanical Drafter. The work in this class includes updating existing machine drawings and completing sets of drawings from engineering sketches.

Structural Drafting

Students in this class have individual computer stations using the most current Autocad software. They advance through Blueprint Reader, Drafting Assisting, Cartographic Drafter, Civil Drafter, and Structral Drafter.  Plat drawings and civil maps are a part of the instruction.

Students receive a state of Florida Adult Certificate of Completion upon graduation.

Students will then either move on to employement in the field or may continue their education at a community college working towards an Associate's degree in Drafting and Design
