Financial Aid Helpful Links

Most financial aid is awarded on the basis of financial need. Need is the difference between your cost of education (educational expenses such as tuition, fees, room, board, books, supplies, etc.) and the amount you and your family contribute toward your education. You may be eligible for financial assistance and not realize it.

How to Apply

To apply for all types of financial aid at Charlotte Technical Center, students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Students will need to complete the FAFSA on the Web at www.fafsa.ed.gov. The earlier you apply the better as all students must meet with the Financial Aid Specialist before receiving any financial aid.

Before you begin the FAFSA, you will need to gather certain documents. If you are a dependent student you will also need the following documents from your parents:

  • Federal income tax returns.
  • W-2 forms.
  • Records of untaxed benefits received.
  • Current bank statements.
  • Records of other savings and investments, such as stocks, bonds, and mutual funds.

There is a free worksheet on the FAFSA site that you may download to get you started in the process.

The links provided on the right side of this page are great sources of information.

To qualify for financial aid you must have a high school diploma, a GED, or pass an "ability to benefit" test.

After you receive an email back from the federal government, please call the Financial Aid Office for guidance through the next step.
