CRIME SCENE TECHNICIAN 1 - Charlotte County Sheriff's Office Full Time - $27,872 Incumbent performs duties conducting major crime scene investigations to locate, identify, preserve, photograph and prepare evidence for processing and or submission to FDLE crime lab. The candidate needs to have a basic knowledge of photography, sketching, processing for latent and patent evidence, which includes but not limited to; fingerprints, footwear impressions, trace, hair & fibers, biological fluid, including DNA potential and blood spatter pattern analysis. Responsibilities include following protocol for the packaging, securing and chain of custody for the evidence collected from the scene. Incumbent will attend autopsies and assist the pathologist with collection of physical evidence from the body. Work includes being a liaison between the investigators, pathologists and prosecuting attorneys giving accurate and comprehensive testimony in a court of law. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Supervisor of Crime Scene and is reviewed for accuracy of results and conformance to established policies and procedures. Education and Experience Required High school diploma or GED Possession of a valid driver's license. Prefer (but not required) - Two year degree as crime scene technician or forensic analyst from accredited college or university or equivalent vocational-technical school degree/certificate level courses.
