Cluster Definition: Jobs in the information technology career cluster involve the design, development, support, and management of hardware, software multimedia, and systems integration services. Career Pathways in Information Technology: A career pathway is an area of concentration within a career cluster. Each pathway contains a group of careers requiring similar academic and technical skills as well as similar industry certifications or postsecondary education. The information technology career cluster has four pathways: Information Support and Services, Programming and Software Development, Network Systems, and Interactive Media. Courses Available in this Cluster | ||||
Computer Systems Technology prepares students for initial employment as computer technicians. Computer technicians maintain, troubleshoot, build, and upgrade computers. The course also teaches networking skills including how to install and maintain a network with an emphasis on network certification. Theory and a "hands-on" approach is used to give the students a well-rounded knowledge of computers. The A+ Certification course prepares students for the Comptia A+ certification exam. The Network+ training prepares students for Comptia Network+ certification exam. Completion of this course allows articulation to any community college in Florida equal to 9-20 credit hours.
