Charlotte Technical Center serves hundreds of adult students annually. The faculty and staff of over 70 professionals are dedicated to providing quality technical training that relates to jobs in your chosen career field. Every effort will be made to give the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) to each potential incoming student who does not possess a college degree. Students will be counseled with regard to their results on the TABE test. Based on this counseling, a student may be admitted either with qualifying results for their chosen program or the student may be encouraged to remediate in our Adult Learning Center prior to enrollment of their chosen program. Every student will be required to take the TABE test before the beginning of the 7th week of enrollment. Students who are 16 years of age or older and have not earned a high school diploma or a GED may be admitted to CTC as an "Ability to Benefit" student in all programs except Dental Assisting and Practical Nursing. Counseling sessions will take place after the initial testing with guidance from the Student Personnel Services office to assist the student in choosing a career training program. The second part of the admission process can be specific to each program. State and/or national licensing and certification boards affiliated with a particular occupation may determine a need for additional admission requirements. Registration Procedures:
Individual programs may require additional steps in the admission process. Please visit individual program pages to view program specific requirements.
